Business Types of Ownership Essay

Before starting any venture it is very important to figure out how the organization is going to build its chain of command. Basically no business is made for short time and for this reason a very careful measurement should be done on ownership. Choosing the appropriate ownership in an organisation depends on nature of business, type of authority, delegation of work, span of organization, type of product, production and operation, legal procedure, financial matters and so on. The basic types of ownership in a business are: http://www.themoneyalert.com/businesstypesofownership.html †¢Sole Proprietorships: This type of business is operated by only one owner. He or she assumes the entire responsibility and financial claims for the business. †¢Partnerships: It is a business formed by a group of people for mutual profit and liability is usually divided in accordance with capital invested. †¢Government: Government can have ownership in different areas like centrally or by local government. †¢Private Limited Company: Private limited companies are quite similar as partnership business and they can offer shares to family members but they cannot make public offering. †¢Public Limited Company: It is the most advantageous and at the same time complicated form of ownership. It has its own legal entity, needs huge legal requirement, can make public offering and the liability is limited to share capital. Types of Hotel Ownership Different organization demands different form of ownership. In the hospitality industry it is better to have either sole proprietorship or partnership. The reason behind choosing these two types of ownership is the nature of hotel business. This business is not like something giant production or supply chain oriented. On the other hand government ownership discourages creativity. So if it is managed by one person or a group of people then it will be easier to operate rather than panicking with legal papers. The owners can freely concentrate on the business and its customers. As ownership varies from business to business, hotel is no exception in this case. Hotels mainly have three type of ownership to run and manage the business and these are franchise, privately owned and operated and leased. This ownership types are presented below: 1.Franchise Model: A franchise hotel or chain hotel is very common type of ownership. The operations are basically based on the brand image and through maintaining and using this image the hotel will earn a sustainable profit. Here the hotel’s owner heavily relies on the good image of the brand and if the brand loses popularity with consumers, the owner’s business suffers at the same time. 2.Privately Owned and Operated This type of hotel ownership is the most common especially in small hotels. Here the owners enjoy full freedom for operation and has to encounter huge risk. 3.Leased Leased hotels are also privately owned, but the physical hotel building belongs to someone else. These types of arrangements are generally on long-term leases. The lesser will stipulate a minimum rent for the premises and may also include a sliding scale based on total revenue for ongoing rent. By Hannah Wickford, eHow Contributor http://www.ehow.com/about_5598328_types-hotel-ownership.html In this current era, the types of ownership observed in hotels are quite diversified the ones in the past. According to Fox, the types of ownerships in the past were mostly corporate body or single owner. But in the coming years more than 50% of the hotel industry will be dominated by franchise business or chain business. Group of hotel will also have significant increase in the future. Now owners are focusing on budget hotels or resorts more than going for any business class or luxury ones. On the other hand the management system in hotels are mostly decentralised in this business, but now a days the owners are quite willing to change this way of operating business. Owners are becoming more interested in doing centralised control over their business. So according to the observation it can be said that both the group of hotel and chain hotel are the best way to start hotel business. This gives owners a well-diversified option with good opportunity. They can concentrate on several locations with a specialised theme and develop themselves accordingly to offer the best product to their target market. The management system can be either centralised or decentralised based on the nature and demand of the business operation. 4.Explain how and why customers could use the different classification and grading systems when deciding on where to stay. Different Classification of Hotels Hotels are classified on the basis of the service, facilities, size, stars, location and many more. At one side there are luxurious hotels for celebrities, on the other side there are budget hotels for normal family need. Through this classification customers can easily identify which one will match their needs best. †¢Resort Hotels: Resort hotels are basically built to facilitate customers’ holiday or trip on a certain season. They can be small one offering accommodation and food or big one offering additional services like spas, pools, beach or mountain locations, on-site kids’ activities, restaurants, pool bars and babysitting services. †¢Airport Hotels: Airport hotels provide facilities for air travellers. They usually have guest for very short time and many of them provide business travellers services as business people are a mass air traveller. †¢Economy Hotels: Economy hotels or budget hotels provide basic services to its guest at a cheap rate. These hotels are basically attractive for family accommodations and economic people who do not need luxury. †¢Suite Hotels: Suite hotels have separate services room for different customers so that there is no interruption between different customers. If they offer both business and family services then they built separate service area so that the customers are not disturbed by each other’s appearance.

James Joyce Background Information

James Joyce Essay: First Two Pages James Joyce, author of â€Å"Araby,† â€Å"Eveline,† and Ulysses, attempts to correct the way of life in his home town of Dublin, Ireland, through his works. He does this through the theme of coming of age and recurring religious allusions in â€Å"Araby†. Additionally, Joyce talks about family in â€Å"Eveline† through the themes of escape and betrayal. In Ulysses, he uses stream of consciousness to depict the importance of a father by rewriting Homer’s The Odyssey.James Joyce addresses many Irish problems of his time through his works: such as, religious issues in â€Å"Araby† and â€Å"Eveline† and social problems in Ulysses. James Augustine Aloysius Joyce was born on February 2, 1882, in Dublin, Ireland (â€Å"James Joyce† 1). His inspiration for writing came from his experiences in this town. For example, James Joyce’s father was a highly regarded tenor singer in Ireland; but being a singer, no steady income existed for his family (1).Adding to this lack of stability, his father was also an alcoholic, so his family never had much money to live on during Joyce’s childhood (1). This situation with his father most likely gave James the inspiration to write about paternity in his novel Ulysses. James Joyce, however, not only wrote about his own family, he also wrote about the entire society in Dublin. When Joyce traveled to Paris, France, in 1902, he discovered a â€Å"liberated city completely opposite that of his native city† (â€Å"The Life and Work† 1). For this reason, Joyce wrote all of his pieces of literature about Dublin. He wrote about Irish politics, which his parents introduced him to; and he wrote about what he thought life should be like in Dublin based on how it is in Paris (1). James Joyce additionally wrote about his wife. His wife, Nora Barnacle, provided Joyce with a person for him to develop his groundbreaking female charact ers, such as Molly Bloom in Ulysses. For Molly Bloom, Joyce actually asked his wife to cheat on him so that he would be in the same situation as the characters in Ulysses (Ellman 58). From his life in Dublin, James Joyce received ample inspiration from the social unrest of his hometown.

Contract Law Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Contract Law - Coursework Example Under normal circumstances, one party’s document will have different terms from the other party’s terms thereby begging the question: whose terms governs the contract? This is what leads to what is termed as the â€Å"battle of forms.† Such a case was explored by Lord Denning in Butler V. Ex-Cell-O3. In case there is a battle of forms in any transaction, a contract is assumed to have taken effect as soon as the last of the forms is sent and received without any issue or objection being taken to it. Nevertheless, a difficulty arises when it comes to deciding which form or part of the form is a term or a condition with regard to the contract in question. Under some cases, the battle is won by the party that fires the last shot. This is the general rule under the battle of forms4. The last shot rule provides that no contract comes into existence as long as an offer and acceptance does not match. Under such a situation, each party’s reference to its own genera l conditions is taken as a rejection of the other party’s offer, thereby treated as a counter offer. It is only if one party to the contract accepts the other party’s offer, plus all the conditions prescribed in it that a contract is deemed to have been formed. The terms of the contract in this case refer to those of the party who has managed to ‘fire the last shot.’ In most cases under the battle of forms cases, this becomes the seller5. For instance, by sending the seller a purchase order by making reference to its general conditions, the buyer makes an offer under his personal standard terms. Then, by making reference to his/her own standard terms in the reply the seller makes a counteroffer and consequently rejects the buyer’s terms. The buyer is implied to have accepted this offer through acceptance of its delivery. This was evident in the case between British Road Services V. Crutchley6 . In this case, the court held that Crutchley’s co unter offer, which was not objected to by the British Road Services, was valid and, as such, carried the day7. From the case, it is evident that the victory was for the party that fired the last shot. It is worth noting that despite this being the general rule under battle of forms, certain exceptions exist. An exception comes where the victory goes to the party that gets in the blow first. For instance, where one party offers to sell at an express price based on the stated terms on the back and the buyer happens to order the same commodities implying to having accepted the offer on the order form with his own different terms on the back. If the difference happens to be so material to the extent that it may affect the initial price quoted, then the buyer is not supposed to be allowed to take advantage of this difference, not unless he/she notifies the seller regarding the difference. Such was the case between Butler V. Ex-Cell-O8. In the case between Butler V. Ex-Cell-O, it was the sellers who fired the first shot since they expressly made it clear that the contract was to be made only on their terms. Lord Denning alludes that in such a case, the seller should win the battle. Nevertheless, according to the ruling of the case by the court of appeal, the issue at hand was the question of who made the offer against the party that accepted it. As such, since the seller made the offer but the buyer later made a counter offer, which was accepted by the seller by raising no abjection, the buyer carried the day9. Application under

Chivalry Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Chivalry - Research Paper Example e point of view of benevolent sexism, women may be seen as loveable, delightful pure beings that have to be looked after or cared for and whose affection is needed to fulfill a man’s life. Certain women may even embrace this idea of ‘protection’ as valuing instead of controlling (Viki, Abrams, & Hutchison, 2003). This essay discusses how benevolent sexism and hostile sexism work together to maintain and reinforce existing gender status quo. Benevolent sexism—even though similarly limiting to women as hostile sexism—works to appease women’s opposition to deeply embedded gender inequality due to its appealing principle. By portraying women in a positive way and guaranteeing benefits to women who are capable of associating themselves with a strong, influential, powerful male defender, benevolent sexism melts down women’s opposition into patriarchy. Women who rely on men for their security, happiness, and comfort are less able to question or defy men’s authority or to seek their own individuality and freedom. Generally, women who embrace and support long-established gender relations become romantic objects, mothers, and wives. As a consequence, they experience benevolent sexism outlooks, behavior, and treatment. On the contrary, women who are seen as defying or robbing men’s control become objects of hostile sexism (Viki et al., 2003). Although dividing women’s images into separate female categories, hostile and benevolent sexism integrate reward and punishment mechanisms and could work in balancing ways to sustain and perpetuate gender inequality. Classifying women into categories also directly results in seclusion among females, making them more fragile and divided rather than strong and unified (Viki et al., 2005). Glick and Fiske (2001) stated that benevolent and hostile sexism are an â€Å"interlocking set of beliefs that reflects a system of rewards (benevolent sexism) and punishment (hostile sexism)† (as cited in Becker & Wright, 2011, 63)

Corruption happened in China Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Corruption happened in China - Essay Example He said the government spent 3 billion to build the government building but because the people worked in the construction sector were venal, the accurate amount of money spent on the construction was just about 3 million. "The quality of the building was worrying", he said. Corruption had already affected too many people. In my town, a number of people who were in government and in charge of the city were venal, and many things which were their responsibility could not go on towards normal procedures. They would work for you only if you give them money. Also they would work for you no matter the things you asked them were legal or not. Many people are breaking the law everyday yet they think it is a normal practice. In my opinion, in order to stop this situation, we have to make the people in government aware of this situation and let them solve this problem, because as ordinary citizens we can barely do anything about it. I think we can gather a group of people to put out a protest. This protest needs to be carried out in a very silent way so that the mileage is good and the result discernable. I hope the people who went through the consequence of corruption could do whatever they can to stop this menace. This shall essentially set the basis for doing things the right way within China and bring an end to the immoral practices which are being compromised upon in this day and
